North Penn Select Craft Show: Sign of Spring March 20,2010

Come to the North Penn Select Show on Saturday March 20th, 2010 and celebrate the eve of Spring!  I will be there with mosaics and Stratoz' stained glass(though he'll be at a science teacher conference), including this Morning Glory Mandala, 7", in periwinkle stained glass, purple VanGogh glass, leading to a center of pink glass, violet gold smalti, and opalescent tile. 

North Penn is a unique show in that for the most part, crafters get their own booth number, sort of like a sports jersey.  Nutmeg Designs is in Booth #98, just as we were last year.  

Be sure to check out our neighbors.  Right next door in booth #99 are woodturnings by Ed Youtz.  He has very cool wall hangings called "Split Exploded Wood Turnings." 

On the other side, in Booth #97, we have Binky Ennis Tin Folk Art.  Tin Fish are fun. 

In the corner, we have Diana Contine of Dakota Moon, in Booth #84, lovely jewelry with some intriguing heart designs.

Across the aisle we have Bill Yoder in Booth #88, with pens made from fine hardwoods.  Bill taught woodworking and technology education in the North Penn School District for 36 years.

Finally, next to Bill, Cynthia Underhill Booth 87, is a talented photographer.  We bought a lively photo from her last show, with many fish.

Report from the Owen J Roberts Craft Show: An A+

Stratoz and I are back from our first time at Owen J. Roberts Friends of Arts Craft Show, and we had a great time!  We met a lot of new folks, and quite a few pieces of mosaic and stained glass went to new homes, including my Nautilus Mandala.  My new mosaic pendants were a hit, and I am working on making more.  Stratoz's penguin suncatcher went to a girl with a penguin theme in her bedroom.  It's a delight to see children intrigued by our work. 

A friend came by and said she'd graduated from this very school 37 years ago, and this was her first time back, which was an interesting coincidence. 

Danielle Ewing did a fabulous job of organizing the show and making the crafters feel welcomed, from the free coffee and donut cart each morning, to the booth sitters and wonderfully helpful student volunteers.  Bause-Landry catering had homemade vegetable soup, and some incredible chocolate cake with caramel icing.

There was even a mosaic!  The pillars by the cafeteria are covered in a tile rendition of the school mascot Wildcat paw prints.

Mosaic Patchwork Pendants Making Their Debut at OJR Show this Weekend

Several people have requested I make mosaic jewelry, and I finally took the plunge!  I will be bringing these, among others, to the Owen J. Roberts show this weekend, March 6-7, 2010.  The center pendant is composed of colored gold smalti in a Log Cabin quilt block.  The yellow ochre and blue green pendants are a mixture of gold smalti, glass and ceramic tile, and millefiori.  At first I was a bit intimidated by such a small surface area(1 inch square), but it turned out to be a fun challenge, and I'm excited to make wearable work!

Getting Ready for the Owen J. Roberts Craft Show March 6-7 2010

 
I'm pleased to report that Stratoz and I will be at the Owen J. Roberts Friends of the Arts 30th Annual Craft Show, March 6-7, 2010, as Nutmeg Designs.  I've been in the studio since the holiday shows settled down, and I really liked how this picture frame turned out!  Antique gold VanGogh glass, with all its lovely textured swirls, with accents of Mother of Pearl tile and gold smalti in each corner.  I rescued this frame from a thrift store because of its neat little cut-outs at top and bottom.  Be sure to come to the OJR show to check it out.

Stratoz goes Solo: Stained Glass at the Pathway School 12-12-09

The stained glass half of Nutmeg Designs, Wayne Stratz, will be offering his work for sale at the Pathway School's First Annual Craft Show on December 12th.  We've done shows together and I've done them solo, but this is Stratoz's first time with a booth full of stained glass!  Come check out all the cool new work he's done lately in his home studio, and for sale at his very own workplace, where he runs the Pathway School horticulture program, and proceeds from the craft show will go to support his program among others.

Der Belsnickel Craft Show November 27th and 28th 2009

Come to Der Belsnickel on November 27th and 28th.  It will be full strength Nutmeg Designs, as both my mosaics and Wayne's stained glass will be there!  Look for us in the Bear gym, booth 19.

North Penn Holiday Craft Show, November 21st, 2009

Saturday November 21st we'll be in our hometown for the North Penn Holiday Craft Market at North Penn Highschool, 9:30am to 4:30 pm.  Along with Margaret Almon Mosaics will be Wayne Stratz stained glass, making up the two sides of Nutmeg Designs.  Look for us at Booth #98.  There's lots of free parking, lunch available, and all sorts of unique gift possibilities.  Sponsored by the North Penn International Friendship Committee, proceeds go to support student exchange programs.  Our house is populated with crafts from several artists at this show, and among our favorites are:

Pennsylvania Guild Holiday Fine Craft Fair in Lancaster, 2009

This coming weekend, November 14th & 15th, I will be in Lancaster for the Pennsylvania Guild Fine Craft Fair, at the Manheim Township High School.  Look for me in booth #207.  This is an all mosaics booth, and then starting with North Penn Holiday Show(11/21), it will be mosaics with Stratoz's stained glass.  There are three separate rooms within Manheim, all full of crafts, so be sure to check them all!

Setting up in the ballroom for Lydia's Guild Craft Show 2009

This afternoon Stratoz and I went to Doylestown to set up my mosaics for the Lydia's Guild Craft Show 2009.  My work is in the ballroom!  Setting up a 6 ft table is definitely speedier than our whole booth. This is a boutique type show, where artist's set up their work and then get to go home.   A host of volunteers, many of whom have their work in the show,  keep things running smoothly for 9 days.   You can come and browse, and then make your purchases at a central check-out.  I've managed to live in the area for 10 years and not ever see Aldie Mansion.  It's tucked behind Mercer Square Shopping Center, an oasis of unique architecture.  This is the place to come for an unmall shopping experience.  Come check it out!
